1.2 when do i use email?
E-mail is used to send either messages or media to people via the internet. It uses a modem, where the data is moduated then de-modulated. I use email myself simply so i can either: . get in contact with a friend, or a contact . make a complaint . make an enquiry about either an unknown product, or a faulty one . talk to family Other than that i have little use for emailing people, unless i need to organize events, or get in contact with someone such as an employer

1.1activity 21 Online Entainment!!!
The only type of online entertainment I use is Youtube. This simple site posts your videos for everyone to see and to comment on should they be a member.
Technology such as this is aimed at practically everyone, youtube has videos of every type for all ages. This sort of technology allows people to access what they want, when they want it, so that they don't have to wait for it to be issued, should it be a song on the radio, or a video on Tv, that can be accessed by youtube. The only downside to this is that many companies now claim it to be a breach of copyright infringements. So many of this media has been taken off of the internet, for obvious reasons. I think to fulfil the internets capacity, We need to have to pay these companies to watch the videos, but get unlimted access for the amount we pay. Only that way will we be able to watch what we want, when we want to, but also keeping the companies concerned happy.

1.1 activity 20 Downloads
From the internet, i have occasionally downloaded softwares. They have practically all to do with digital media. For instance I had downloaded a P2P software, and had used it to download music, videos etc. Other than that I have only downloaded a couple of add on levels for very old computer games, based on a workable engine. The other things that I have messed about with are OS mod's. In other words, totally changed the appearance of my desktop and windows. Other than that, i haven't actually downloaded anything for deliberate use from the internet
1.1 Activity 19 Anarchy (government)
Sorry sir; unfortunately I have searched to Government's site and i cannot find these links of which you ask for, so there is little point of making a table and I cannot answer the question
1.1 activity 18 Educational matters...
There are many types of educational websites out there. There are those such as BBC Bitesize, which are commonly know in our country as the best educational website there is, or at least the most well known, so that comes in 1st place. The reasoning for this is, that it is directly associated to the subject.
Wikipedia is an online encyclopedia that has the description of almost anything, and has millions of interlinking topics, that allows the researcher to find out alot of background info on the subject, as well as what is needed to be known on the topic itself. This gets 2nd place
Therer are these online demo's (such as Lynda.com) that really allows the researcher to find out about the topic. The reason this comes in 3rd, is because you cannot directly ask a question, and get a response in seconds, whilst you search in the question bar and you get the response you need(1st, 2nd place)
In 4th comes simulations (eg NetFrog). My reasoning for this is that although it is accurate to a degree, it is not completely accurate, and can be difficult to follow. But it is interactive and many people find that interactivity can be one of the best forms of taking in what you have learned
In last place comes smaller educational sites, such as "RE online" These sites only have room for one subject, as that is what they do, focus on their subject. But the reason I place them last is that they don't have a variety of subjects to choose from, you need to go else where. However they have detailed information on their topic, which makes them come in the top 5

1.1 activity 17 Adobe madness!!!
Again, I cannot go about doing this as I dont have an Adobe account, However i have visited the Lynda site, and have found that the demo's are very good and show you exactly what you need to know. Aside from the womans accent, it was easy to follow and very basic. I have seen a "learning object" before, and have found it very useful.

1.1 activity 16 - Adobe adventure
I dont have an Adobe account, and dont really want one therefore I cannot log on, but i have a decent undertstanding of what a seminar is, and i couldn't find what the exercise specified by i can appreciate how a seminar works and how it is useful- especially when on demand. The disadvantage here is that you cannot ask questions if it is not clear enough for you.
1.1 activity 15 NetFrog
sorry sir, I cannot blog this, like the rest of the sites, but i have looked into the dissection of the frog, and have found it a particularily useful premonition. I think it is helpful and useful, because it remains ethical and yet the reader gets a decent insight into how the frog it anatomically built.
The quality of the site was most definitely old, and needs updating, however it has taught me that online simulation makes understanding easier, means alot less thinking for us. This could be percieved either badly or not, depending on your veiw of laziness. Personally I find that it compelements laziness, but is none the less useful to people who don't have time to do it themselves.

1.1 Activity 14- Science museum
Sorry sir, but I cannot blog it to this post,and i cannot find the info on the site, i found the "making the modern wold page", but not any of the learning models.
1.1 Activity 13- BANKING!!! (grrr)
Online banking is one of the more recent revolutuions of the technological world. Online banking is much faster and is just as simple as going into any branch. It is very simple- it only requires details to filled in in the spaces provided, and then the money will be transfered shortly afterwards. This is the disadvantage- to have to wait for it to be tranferred. The advantage of physical banking is that withrdawl is even more simple and is quick. The downside is the having to travel to the nearest bank to get it.
To improve it, we would need it to be quicker, and having transfers and withdrawls happen emmediately.

1.1 activity 12- ebay visit
Ebay is a website that is aimed at anybody(primarily adults) to sell their unwanted items to anybody who wants it. People can sell to others across the world, but shipping prices often mean, that people try to stick to their own country or continent.
The bidding system is an interesting one. If there are infact 2 interested parties things get a little more complicated. It starts as one person laying down a base price; if another is interested they must raise it by a certain amount. The other then must raise theirs by at least 50p (.co.uk only). The origional one can keep up with the other by raising it to as high as they like, the other however, doesn't know this has happened and can raise theirs by a minimum of 50p.
The best tactic is to wait till the last few seconds to boost the bid by a significant amount so that it puts you ahead, with so little time left for the other to react, making you the winner.
Another useful feature is that some people don't just want to put their item up for biddings. Some people simply want a set amount for it, so they put a price on it, generally with extra for the posting

1.1 activity 11 Weather report
Ill have to keep updating this one.
The BBC claims that today(06/09/08) in maidstone it is "light intervals" there has been hardly any sun, so the BBC was partially right, but i am under the illsuion they meant , on and off sun, not: (8 o'clock) sun......no sun.........................................................................................sun, oh look, its 6 in the evening!!!
this to me says that technology is not 100% accurate.

1.1 activity 10 The road to tottenham court road
this seems to ask a bit much. Its not so much that i cannot actually find these things out, obtaining a map, and finding rail times would be simple enough, but to actually drive from my home to london, simply to prove competance seems a bit much, for this reason, I have not done this exercise, unless you instruct me otherwise
1.1 activity 9 google newgroup
Using google groups, uder the search of digital divide brought up one that really stuck out: http://groups.google.co.uk/group/bnyee/browse_thread/thread/2257a0b587674154/8a6adbbd5056abee?hl=en&lnk=st&q=#8a6adbbd5056abee
This web page informed me of how in the west (the us in particular) internet broadband can come into the max of about 2% of an average persons income. This seems like a fairly large percentage; however, compared with another statistic- 900% it seems almost like a pathetically small amount, so miniscule that it is practically insignificant.
What i learned from the digital divide, is that there are also 6 "essential conditions" to overcome the digital divide:
* basic literary skills;
* access to information and communications technologies;
* access to content in the student’s language;
* ability to create and share digital content;
* teachers who can teach with digital resources; and
* effective leadership in educational policy and planning.
it seems there is alot that weighs on whether the western world can be competant enough to keep up with the education of technology. However, most of the wealthy countries can overcome this by being competant and being able to speak a variety of languages (English being the major one), so that we can share our breakthroughs with other countries.

1.1 Activity 5:online discussion - IM (windows live messenger)
Sorry sir, i don't have any of the adresses for any of the other students in the group aside from Josh B. Seeing as there is only him, i rather see little point in discussing activity 4 with him, however I will e-mail this to him once i have completed the other activities. Activity 4 will be the last one I do in a sense.
The time of logging onto Windows live messenger was 15:08, sat, 06, september
